Two weekends ago Woogi and I went to his hometown over a long weekend. It is in the south west of Korea amongst mountains and feilds being prepared for rice planting.
On the way there, in Gochang we went to see a park inside an old palce walls. We walked just part of the 1.4km circumference of the wall, being laden down with our luggage and sweat from the hot day.
Next we went to an estaury where we hired some gumboots and tools for digging up shellfish. We had a bone jolting ride in a strange contraption (we opted to walk back) to dig up our shellfish haul.
After a night in a pension near the estaury we took a couple of buses to Woogi's hometown, a very small village without a shop in sight.
There was a three hundred year old tree though.
Woogi in his aunt and uncle's yard. His 96 year old grandmother also lives there.

This weekend we went to a place near Chuncheon with some of Woogi's university friends. First stop Nami island, an island in the middle of a river. It is an overated place made famous by a drama called Winter Sonata which was partly filmed there. Woogi and I had already been there and weren't estatic about going back but there you are. We did see lots of Korean squirrells though.
After a 30 minute wait in a very long line we took the ferry back and made our way to the pension where we stayed the night.
While Woogi's friends slept off their soju, I found strange bugs like this one I will name the platypus bug.
